Remote Deposition Services in Columbus, Ohio

For people who aren’t non-essential workers, the new normal is to work from home. Entire legal firms are forced to operate from their respective dining room tables in order to keep everyone safe and healthy. In a way, this might seem ideal– one would be able to get their work done in a far more efficient manner without constant distractions, right?

Perhaps this is partially true, but a massive part of an attorneys work must be done around others. Meetings with partners, co-counsels, witnesses, and clients are what truly propel the course of law forward. Exchanging emails don’t work. Phone calls between two people aren’t bad, but when that number goes to three, four, five, or even more, it can be difficult to discern who said what. Attorneys need a better solution.

Credit: Commercial Integrator

Ohio court reporting firms are working to provide that solution. Top professionals like the Columbus court reporters at Anderson Reporting have the tools to give attorneys exactly what they need. For 30 years, attorneys in the Columbus area have turned to the skilled litigation support professionals at Anderson Reporting for each and every one of their litigation needs. With a dedication to customer needs, quality service, and providing top-tier technology, clients can be confident their case is in good, capable hands.

“Unbelievable handling of a last-minute video deposition,” one client says. “The great team at Anderson Reporting pulled a videographer and reporter out their hats and were on the record in just over an hour after our emergency call. Very impressive service!”

Anderson Reporting

The technology Anderson Reporting utilizes allows them to be there for their clients in a time when they cannot be there physically. Anderson offers their clients remote deposition services, which allows them to connect with their legal teams and witnesses “face-to-face” without leaving the comfort of their homes. Anderson Reporting utilizes technology that will only produce the highest quality video and audio with a good internet connection. Each conversation takes place over a secure server, so clients don’t have to worry about the state of their vital information.

Attorneys can even continue to work with their favorite Columbus court reporters from home. Anderson’s court reporters can still take part in a deposition and provide clients a complete, quality transcript. This allows clients to have a key tool for reviewing in the palm of their hands.

Court Reporting and the World of Law

Credit: Quote Logy

Attorneys are not the sole professional who win clients’ cases. They are responsible for presenting the facts and swaying the jury, which is certainly a difficult task, but there are a lot of moving parts that help attorneys present the best version of their case possible. Legal teams are made up of a number of professionals who preform different jobs in order to help the case thrive.

Among those professionals are court reporters. Many hear the title and can’t possibly conceive what a court reporter might do during a trial. Others simply think that court reporters sit in the back of the room with a tiny laptop and type up what was said. While that description is the most basic description of a court reporter’s responsibilities possible, it is a description nonetheless. Court reporters are tasked with recording what was said, exactly how it was said, as it is said. This means that court reporters must be able to type upwards of 200 words a minute– about five times more than the average person can type a minute.

Credit: New York Post

Part of this ability comes from talent, and part of it comes from mastering the stenograph– the machine court reporters use in the court room or deposition. Unlike a normal keyboard, stenographs are arranged phonetically, which allows reporters to record sounds instead of “real English” and produce words more quickly. Court reporters then have to go back and translate what was said in a pristine transcript for attorneys, so that it can be referenced at a later date. These transcripts need a quick turn-around, because attorneys can’t afford to sit around waiting.

Court reporters need to be as timely, efficient, and accurate as possible so that the discourse of law can move smoothly. When a court reporter can’t deliver on these needs, everyone suffers– paralegals, attorneys, and their clients. Attorneys must choose who is a part of their legal team wisely, so they aren’t left wanting more.

How These Houston Court Reporters Are Using Web Tech to Dominate

Credit: Planet Depos

Since its conception over 25 years ago, Hanna & Hanna Reporting has made a point to provide the highest quality court reporting equipment to each of their clients. As the years have passed, this desire has wavered changed. These Houston court reporters continue to not only offer the best technology in the industry, but the most recent advances the internet has to offer.

Perhaps what sets them apart from many firms in their area is their variety of booking options. If a potential client desires, they can call the firm toll free, but in this day and age, that isn’t always an option. People are always on the move. Sometimes attorneys don’t have the time to stop what they are doing and make a call during conventional office hours. As a result, the firm developed an “after hours” email that is available any time of day in the event of an emergency. Upon sending a message to  afterhours@hannareporting.com, the client will promptly receive either a phone call or email. This takes some weight off the shoulders of already-stressed attorneys.

The ability to book through email reservation is certainly a plus, but it isn’t the shining gem of the business. Because of their partnership with the National Network Reporting Company (NNRC), a company dedicated to providing a comprehensive database of quality court reporting firms, clients can now book anywhere, anytime, with their 24/7 mobile directory. The process is simple. All a client needs to do select Texas court reporting firms from the drop-down menu, select Houston, and they will immediately be taken to a page on Hanna & Hanna Reporting. It’s easy to then select “book online,” fill in the necessary information, and submit a request.

How Attorneys Team Up with Court Reporters

Credit: Aging in Place

We all know that court reporters help make an attorney’s legal team shine, but what exactly does that mean?

Court reporters help attorneys run their cases as smoothly as possible. By recording the legal proceedings of a deposition or trial as they occur in an easy to read format, attorneys can then use that transcript to shape the following steps of their case. Deposition transcripts allow attorneys to form a solid testimony for their witnesses, but they also allow attorneys to find holes in the opposing counsel’s case. As a result, attorneys can come to trial with an impenetrable defense.

Credit: California Deposition Reporters

This is especially crucial in areas of law where one’s livelihood is at stake. Take elder law, for example. Elder law can encompass anything from estate planning, to veteran’s benefits, to special needs care. When a parent, spouse, or a loved one needs specialized care or a place to stay, it can be nearly impossible for family to scratch up the funds they need to provide this loved one with proper care. When this happens, families need to turn to elder law attorneys.

“Elder law attorneys give their clients a peace of mind that was likely never thought achievable,” Gagandeep Baidwan, an expert from Wichita Falls, Texas says. “When finances, assets, and quality of life are all in the balance, a good elder law attorney can make a world of difference for not only one’s life, but their peace of mind.”

Credit: Robinson & Henry

In Palm Beach County, Florida, where nearly 30 percent of the population are seniors, it is essential there be an elder law attorney who is dedicated to their work. Mark Shalloway is that attorney.  For 30 years, Mark Shalloway and his team of devoted attorneys at Shalloway & Shalloway have served the needs of seniors and their families in the Palm Beach area. Whether one requires assistance with living trusts, obtaining Medicaid, medical malpractice, or any other area of practice encompassing elder law, Shalloway and his people will do everything in their power to make sure the client is satisfied. The firm discusses the family’s needs and helps guide them to a plan that works.

But even for experienced attorneys such as Mark Shalloway, it is nearly impossible to remember each and every detail of a client’s case. This is where a court reporter would come in. By sitting in on a meeting, deposition, or trial, court reporters can quickly, accurately, and efficiently recount everything that was said. Court reporters then format the transcript to an easy-to-read document. With this tool, attorneys are able to find exactly what they need. Details won’t be forgotten or left out of the case work. An attorney can use the transcript to form as tight a case as possible.

Credit: Science

In the world of elder law—and really, in any area of practice—, having every single necessary detail available is pivotal to not only the success of a case, but to the livelihood of the attorney’s client. Court reporters allow attorneys to act diligently and effectively, both of which propel their work forward. With the help of court reporters, attorneys can get attorneys the resources they so desperately need to live life fully.
